Cooper, Bailey & Co’s Great International Circus

Cooper, Bailey & Co toured Australia twice, in 1876-7 and 1877-8. This circus was later incorporated into Barnum & Bailey’s Circus, In 1906, Barnum & Bailey’s was acquired by Ringling Bros. In 1919, Ringling Bros Circus and Barnum & Bailey’s were merged into one circus. In this photograph, Cooper, Bailey & Co is shown in Sydney in 1877 erected on Bell’s Paddock at the corner of College and William Streets
